Eliminating traditional paper forms and crafting an application tailored explicitly for PetSmart employees to submit leave requests.
The stakeholders at SharePhotos, LLC, wanted to develop solutions to improve their application for sharing photos and videos with users. They approached the UX team to develop a strategy and conduct UX research.
CHI was founded by Farouk Shami, the creator and inventor of the first Original Ceramic Flat Iron. I had the privilege of contributing to enhancing his website, aiming to boost traffic and foster customer engagement.
I started my journey into tech and the web when I met my childhood friend Frank, who introduced me to the world of gaming. I played various PC games like the classic Duke Nukem and enjoyed Super Mario on the Nintendo.
At an early age, I was interested in computers and dabbled with CorelDRAW, learning to create invitations and flyers. From there, my interest in graphic design and my journey into Web Design & Development began when my best friend introduced me to a blogging site called Xanga. I learned that different people were using GeoCities to create their websites, and with Xanga, I wanted to learn how to make layouts and understand how websites were built.
Upon discovery, I stumbled upon a website called createblog.com, where I learned that people were using Paint Shop Pro to design their graphics, and they had tutorials on the web languages for constructing a website.
I was very interested in a career as a Web Designer and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interactive Media from The Art Institute of Houston. I have worked as a professional Web Designer in corporate settings for over seven years. I wanted to enhance my skills, and when I took a class in Human Centered Design, I sought to learn more about developing solutions focused on user needs in applications and products, which shifted my focus to User Experience.
I decided to pursue graduate school at Kent State University to study User Experience and will graduate in Fall 2025.
I’m currently interning at HCSS as a UX Designer and working at PetSmart as a Retail Associate. I love technology and the web, and I am passionate about the well-being of animals and educating pet parents.
Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my family, belly dancing, and snuggling with my talkative cat, Dixie.
